Anyone have coordinates or google map for the start? Steep incline and high elevation gain, but the falls are nice. If you want to stay near the base of the falls and get to the climbing area there's a visible use-trail that hugs the south side of the creek and hops a few boulders. Salmon creek is amazing! I turned off the trail and followed the orange cones and rock formations to a really nice viewpoint where I sat and had lunch.Awesome trail! Google doesn't show the forest service roads (another good reason to not rely too heavily on Google Maps!). Perfect for a quick dip.
Alternate names for this falls include Salmon Falls. Not much shade in first half of trail, take water! As the trail sees more and more sun, it will start to climb up to the viewpoint and trail terminus. wasn't too thrilled by the ambiance created by the parched and pasty landscape. At this point, there are plenty of adventurous options. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is best used from April until October.
Only caught them on the accent to the better view during bouldering. The water fall itself is nice and the water is fresh! Last section was less steep and the trees provided welcome relief from the blistering heat.Reward was a paddle at Salmon Creek Falls before descending a lot quicker than ascent.The first two-thirds of the hike up to Salmon creek is pretty challenging with steep terrain and no shade but the last third of the trail makes up for it. :) This trail is okay but definitely not for the summer or middle of the day. Also, we did see a few snakes, including a rattle snake. You can also continue on this trail to a cave.We were able to drive up & park at the sluice area. Lots of gorgeous waterfalls and beautiful sights. However, its not maintained. As the trail makes its way through the chaparral and reaches this ridge, the you’ll get some truly breathtaking views of the Kern River Valley and Southern Sierra Nevada.At about the 0.2 mile mark, the trail levels out a bit as it heads toward the canyon itself. Take the first hairpin left, then a right where the AllTrails map shows 'trail' and you'll get to the entrance. But, it's a forest service road so be advised (though I got my Ford Focus up there so it wasn't really an issue). If those times won’t work for you, 12:00AM to 12:00AM looks promising.
