However the ranger at the gates was a giant a$$ hole but we finally got in. This family-friendly mile and half hike leads to the stunning 136 foot Burgess Falls.If you like waterfalls, this hike is for you. Beautiful and easy trail! We've done this hike a few times. Fairly easy hike. really nice hike. If you have mobility issues this may prove challenging. In addition each campsite has a four sided...Upon entering Rock Island State Park from the east, the parking area for this trail is located right after the old cotton mill (my friend and I actually ended up getting lost because it is tucked away there quite nicely). Very simple yet beautiful hike! Other waterfalls are pretty too. A little too crowded given my desire to socially distant but everyone pretty collegial and respectful of personal space. Otherwise this is a fantastic hike regardless.Nice fairly easy hike with beautiful cascades and waterfalls. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.Public Notice Ongoing: The staircase at the main falls is inaccessible. There are two campgrounds, this one is specifically tents only. One thing is that people need to pack out their trash. The last of these falls is the most spectacular, plunging more than 130 feet into the gorge. Also heard that the weekends can be pretty jammed up.Very pretty hike not to hard. Burgess Falls State Park is an extremely scenic spot for hikers.
You few waterfalls from above but the whole trail had waterfalls all the way to few. Burgess Falls State Park, located on the Falling Water River is noted for its natural beauty and four waterfalls that cascade down from over 250 feet in elevation. The trail provides a modest and enjoyable challenge for families and beginners as it follows the riverbank past increasingly impressive cascades, culminatin… The small falls at the top of the trail are great to walk around in. We had a great time walking through the water and sitting on the ledge for a snack. Family friendly, pet friendly, clean restrooms, playground for the kids, and lots of parking. There are a few spots for swimming so bring your suit if it's a warm day.It's an easy hike suitable for children, but be sure to wear good shoes with grip - it can get slippery towards the end at the big waterfall.You'll find the trailhead on the west side of the parking lot - it is well signed.When I went the stairs were still washed out to the base.
The trail quickly approaches the rim of the river gorge to provide hikers with a great bird's eye view of the falls. I would do this hike and Cummings falls in the same day.The stairs down to the lower level were closed due to flood damage, but you could still hike down to the upper half of the falls. You can hike down to the top of the falls. Starts with a small set of falls, then mid way through you come to a medium set. Tip: go early. I would recommend this trail for anyone wanting a nice relaxing hike with a little extra cardio if you take the stairs to the top of Burgess Falls. There are two trails, the main loop at 1.5 miles and a possible .5 mile extension, which provide stunning views of the park. One of the overlooks is closed but the main one is open and gives you a spectacular view of Burgess Falls.
It’s pretty safe and is a neat experience. Most people prefer to hike back to the parking lot along the service road. The area was originally populated by Native Americans of the Cherokee, Creek and Chickasaw tribes. It’s shaded most of the hike. Nice gravel path to the overlook if you can't handle the uneven ground or roots on the path. Walked down to the top of the falls and it was beautiful. One of the original overlooks is blocked off due to damage and will eventually be fixed.The park is in the middle of upgrading facilities such as bathrooms and area before the trail head.
