NOAA: Tropical Depression 11 Track, Spaghetti Models August 12, 2020 August 12, 2020 MIAMI, Florida – NOAA’s National Hurricane Center issued a Public Advisory at 11 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, due to the presence of Tropical Depression Eleven (formerly Invest 95L) that is tracking toward the Caribbean. Tropical Storm Josephine 2020 NOAA GOES Satellite Image Josephine is the earliest “J” storm on record in the Atlantic Basin.Tropical Storm Josephine is located about 680 miles east-southeast of the northern Leeward Islands and is moving to the west-northwest at 17 mph (28 km/h).NHC forecasters say that this general motion is expected to continue for the next few days followed by a turn toward the northwest late this weekend or early next week.On the NHC forecast track the center of Josephine is expected to pass to the northeast of the Leeward Islands over the weekend.Spaghetti models are in tight agreement that Tropical Storm Josephine will move west-northwestward across the tropical Atlantic then curve northwestward into the open Atlantic before the system reaches the Lesser Antilles.The CMC computer model (yellow triangle) is the western outlier.The GFS American model (purple square) forecasts a turn to the north towards Bermuda.The NHC forecast (red circle) through 60 hours is based on the better performing IVCN consensus which consists of the Decay SHIPS, LGEM and the hurricane models.Beyond mid-period, the NHC forecast is basically a blend of the IVCN and the global models which now shows Josephine degenerating into a remnant low at day 5.Tropical Storm Josephine has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph (65 km/h), with higher gusts.Some strengthening is expected through Friday night.Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km) to the north of the tropical cyclone’s center.NOAA and Colorado State University forecast an “extremely active”
