Hell yeah, especially with the fixed gameplay and AI, and the workshop mods I think Rome 1 is better. For me its way superior in gameplay. Sometimes you'd run up against a nation that was a little tougher to crack, but eventually you just bought a bigger hammer.Attila was the first game where I had to think different and felt real change happening in the world. I'd recommend it only when it goes on sale. It was really cheap at the xmas sale, and when Atilla comes out it will likely be on sale Again. I think it's a good game, it's my most played Total War (going all the way back to Medieval 1 which was my first 15 years ago,) and one of my favourite games. I played Rome 2 when it came out, extremely excited as Rome 1 was my introduction to the series way back then. Attila TW + Age of Charlemagne expansion goes for ~$15 at 3rd party resellers like CD keys (half the price of RTW2). The campaign map is now full of playable, full fledged factions. I really like strategy games and I'm wondering if Rome 2 is worth it Wait for a steam sale or another comprable sale.. During the last steam sale I think it was selling for as low as $10 to $20.. I would say that Shogun 2 was better, but Rome 2 seems to have been mostly fixed now (take it with a grain of salt, only put around 4 hours into it) but it is good :) As a rule of thumb, pick up the total war game set in a time period you like. I played a lot of Shogun 2 and also bought Fall of the Samurai but now Ive learned that getting the DLC and having a "complete game" doesnt do anything for me if I never get to the point where Im playing the DLC. Some of the problems are still there (the combat can still be blobby at times, generals are still forgettable at times, the trait system is very limited in comparison with other titles, armies still retreat past mountains/rivers or through your armies) but if you already own the game and haven't played it in a while, I'd recommend you try firing up a grand campaign.

It brought on narrative concepts that got further sharpened for Warhammer. Was worth the $15 at least for the Emperor Edition. Rome's birthday celebrations for Natale di Roma include historical re-enactments featuring costumed parades and gladiator fights. If that is the roman times, I think I would say Rome 2 over the first Rome: Total War game now.But as many others said wait for a sale. Rome 2 is good now, even if the AI is a bit derp. And you already own the game. Previous titles like Shogun 2 are still great options as well.
I played it obsessively and enjoyed playing as the Romans (all 3 factions) and the Greek City States (love the phalanx combat).
I would not be surprised if one pops up around the time Attila comes out to promote the franchise. I am a somewhat reasonable grown-up who functions at a pretty high level in real life most days. However I would advise playing the game at least once without mods before trying to mod it.

You're literally coming undone due to your own opulent spending and have to decide what is worth keeping. If you've already played that, then yea, I'd recommend Rome 2. Nuff said...Lately, Ive gotten back into Total war by playing Warhammer I. I have been having the time of my life.
