Politically the two areas are similar. I moved to a cheaper city in LA county and got a similar paying job and can actually afford to put money away to save up for a house/condo/car/boat/kids/etc.Sb is great if you want a quiet albeit kinda boring life without crime, noise, traffic....but at the cost of being a renter for life.What would you consider to be a "comfortable income" for singles if you don't mind me asking?I've lived in SB over half my life, but for a few years I worked remotely for a company based in Colorado, so I used to visit every couple months.As mentioned, Denver and SB are pretty similar in a lot of ways -- Boulder though is actually even more similar to SB because it's also a college town with CU.I think you'd love either location and if you're smart with your money you can live comfortably in both.Actually I think the biggest thing that differs, and one which you might want to take into consideration is the geographic location.
