The free cloud forest tour we did in People went nuts for these birds! We only have 8 days & I just really would like to see some monkeys, wildlife, rainforest. If I'm going to spend several days around Arenal and see and do most everything (cloud forest tours, zip lines, rapelling, etc. The $50 guide and $20 entrance fee didn’t seem so worth it anymore.Our guide was knowledgeable and we learned some fun facts about the cloud forest but we honestly left a little disappointed. Flying into SJO. We were pumped to see monkeys and sloths so needless to say we were immediately disappointed when our guide informed us that this is not to be expected as it is too cold in the cloud forest to see these mammals. Whats your advice? We are there for 10 days, based out of In MA, we are going to stay at the Banana Tree Hotel. Telescopes and cameras were being whipped out in a fury! Level Contributor . is a good base for activities - you can zip line from here, white-water raft, go to the rainforest, boat tours, horse-riding and definitely lots of wildlife.
