They are more accurate. Pulse lasers increase damage because they allow vaporized armor to dissipate from the location of damage. Like mechs, weapon shop locations are determined by spawn lists that check for specific planet attributes and faction allegiance. I Can see the VMPL doing this also . I would imagine that recovering intact Clan versions aided in the development. looking at the stats it seems that a pulse laser even a rare version of it does less damage than 2 m lasers while taking up the same space and it has more heat. It also generates more heat.
Inner Sphere pulse lasers cause slightly more damage than their standard IS equivalents, at the expense of weight and range (being twice as heavy as a standard IS laser of the same class). That's what made the Marauder 5D so good: it became a great bodyguard mech because you had 3 pulse lasers. ... X-Pulse Lasers were an attempt, started in 3055, by Federated Commonwealth technicians to increase the range of pulse lasers The research endeavor was hampered by the FedCom Civil War, though prototypes existed at the time that had fired faster and with more power than current Inner Sphere pulse lasers… The drawback to this is dispersing particles from the target will be kicked up in the path of the beam therefore weakening it. All trademarks are property of their respective owners in the US and other countries.
Pulse technology “pulses” the beam in short micro-burst while computer targeting keeps the aim true. From early mechwarrior games, I seem to remember lasers having different types (pulse or steady beam) ... pulse being less damaging but more versatile or accurate or something, dont really remember).
They are unable to have +’s (currently) and are frankly not worth adding to a Mech unless you have the tonnage and heat sinks to spare, otherwise even a basic laser gives them a run for their money and that is frankly unacceptable. Pulse lasers are Lostech, Star League era weapon systems that no one in the Inner Sphere was able to manufacture by 3025. Medium pulse laser [edit | edit source] An improvement upon standard Medium Lasers, Medium Pulse Lasers use pulses of light instead of a single beam. That way, when an enemy unit builds up 5 chevrons, pulse lasers knock that down to 3, making a more manageable target. They are rare enough as is. One thing of note: you're probably thinking of the Clan versions of this stuff, which are far better... and not in this game. Merch! This results in better accuracy and damage output but with increased heat and weight. Extremely rare at this point, there's some in game but they're getting tweaked a bit since they're not as good as they should be compared to the higher quality standard types (according to the recent Reddit AMA). Expand … The following lists breaks down where weapons can be found. It also generates more heat. Can someone explain to me how these two pieces of Lostech are worse than the standard versions? I would imagine that recovering intact Clan versions aided in the development. However, inside that range they are a lethal weapon, having a much smaller heat buildup compared to other pulse lasers (within the Mechwarrior IV series, they also have an increased rate of fire), making them an excellent short-range support weapon. Nope, in tabletop, you force a piloting roll to stay upright once you deliver 20 damage (4 medium laser blasts or one AC20 round) to a single target. The Pulse Laser. Due to some advances from the Helm Memory Core found in 3028 the Inner Sphere was starting to develop this technology by the time the Clans invaded in 3050. In TT terms, and specific to the Inner Sphere?Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts.
The other problem is that with the lostech stuff your never going to see + or +++ versions. Finally the fact that the natural view range of a single mech is only slightly further than short ranged weapons (such as medium lasers) makes longer ranged weapons fairly irrelevant unless they can fire *without* LOS.TL;DR: This game did a very lousy job of balance and disproportionately favors missiles as a result of making a number of small mechanical tweaks. The thing is that IS pulse lasers were still garbage because range penalties are related to max range, so in most cases you lost as much in higher range penalty that you gained from the pulse laser bonus (e.g., medium pulse lasers are only more accurate than regular MLs at ranges 1, 2, and 4). i added a mod that enables them to be bought if you can find them and with upgraded versions of them. The fact that stability damage only comes from ballistic sources greatly reduces the power of lasers. They deal slightly more damage and they are slightly more accurate but they weigh more and run hotter. Author Topic: X-Pulse Lasers (Read 2698 times) Degman.
