Definitely a date night contender! If you think you’ve checked everything off your San Diego bucket list, guess again. Just a beautiful little piece of engineering!Lots of visitors, but a great little side trip to walk across. The location was a surprise. It was located in a corner of a dead end with plenty of neighborhood parking.

So why not go for a walk and of course I look on Yelp to see where to go for a nice walk so I stumble upon this Spruce Street Suspension Bridge. This is not critical to the bridge and should not be interpreted as anything other than people having fun.”Surprisingly, the city engineer who planned this fabulous bridge was elected San Diego mayor — twice! Nothing fancy.

The view is nice but best of all my 75 year old dad had no problem with the walk. There were people hanging out on the bridge dangling their feet. The amazing Edwin Capps (see page 44) engineered it to support 164 tons (2,186 people @150 pounds). Hard to believe this bridge is still standing after 100 years.

The couple of times that I've gone here, it kind of smelled like marijuana but overall, it is such a cute photo op and place to bring your family and friends!

Just be respectful of the neighbors because the bridge is accessed in a residential area. I was uncomfortable with that. However, if you dont mind the adventure, this place so much fun, is almost as if we were transported somewhere else.

Really cool! There is no parking lot, but there is plenty of street parking nearby!! There is also a plaque with some information on both sides. It is a unique suspension bridge in a nice residential area between the airport and the zoo. It floats above the street and is among many treetops, at 375 feet long and held up by steel suspension cables docked to concrete blocks. Beware of those who like to swing and shake the bridge though...Amazing little hidden gem with amazing view of surrounding greenery! An excellent place to check out.
